Waterbury LaSalle Community Association
MJ Musano
We hope you are enjoying the first days of 2014. We, at the Waterbury LaSalle Community Association, are hard at work trying to make this year one that will be full of helpful information for our members and fun things to do for the children and adults in our community.
Our membership meetings will resume again in the Spring. The dates will be March 13th, April 10th, May 8th and June 12th. We have an ambitious agenda and we hope that you mark these dates on your calendar now so that you will be sure to join us.
If you are not a member, please consider joining us. We need you, your ideas and your participation. If you love our community as we do then you must find the time to be proactive and help to make our neighborhood the very best it can be. Join us because there is strength in numbers and with your help so much more can be done. Don’t leave the job to your neighbors. Step up!
I think this year will prove to be very exciting as we are planning some new things. In partnership with Senator Klein’s office we are working on several Bingo events. If you are interested in this and have the time to help, please call me at 718 792-6385.
Our Tree Giveaway will be sometime in early May. This is always done in partnership with the First Lutheran Church of Throggs Neck. Last year we worked with the staff and principal of PS 304 on a mass planting at their school. This year we will continue that partnership by donating fruit trees to their edible garden. We always need volunteers for this event. If you are interested, please call me and I will explain what needs to be done.
We are working on guest speakers for our membership meetings. We are planning another meet and greet, where we will invite staff from many city agencies. In the past, we have invited representatives from Sanitation, the Department of Buildings, City Planning, the NYPD, the FDNY and our own Community Board #10. A meeting such as this gives us the opportunity to network with many city agencies all at one time. You will not want to miss this!
So, have you sent in your membership dues so that you can be a part of some of these great events? Maybe you are not a member. Joining is easy! Just send your $10.00 check to Waterbury LaSalle Community Association, PO Box 291, Ponton Avenue, Bronx, NY 10461 or bring your check with you to the March meeting. We meet at PS 14 on Bruckner Blvd and Hollywood Avenue at 7:30 pm. There is always an interesting guest speaker and the opportunity to network with your neighbors. Bring your questions and ideas. We will discuss them over coffee and cookies!
