With a new Bronx chair and two Bronxites ready to question city officials, The Bronx dominated the first Public Safety Committee meeting.

Lasting only ten minutes, Committee voted to recommend the Council renew legislation passed before tasked with pushing the NYPD to becoming compliant with past legislation that obligates them to report crime stats for city parks to the Council. West Bronx Councilwoman and former Assemblywoman Vanessa Gibson, chairing the meeting, stated that the police department has only reported data for the 20 largest parks when it should be doing it for all parks. After Councilman Ritchie Torres questioned specifics about the information flow between the police and the Council. Councilman James Vacca stated clearly that the NYPD was non-compliant, rather than in error. NYPD representatives were not present for questioning. The policy was put in place seven years ago.
