Bronx Chronicle Snow Day Movie: Style Wars

Home from work or school today?

Here’s a thirty year old Bronx favorite, and no, I’m not talking about your’s truly.

Style Wars, which aired on PBS in 1983 and in theaters in 1984, was an important early documentation of the nexus between different aspects of hip hop culture, such as beat boxing, grafitti and the origins of rap music.  See the Bronx featured throughout.  It won the Grand Jury Prize: Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival.
