PELHAM, NY– Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) delivered a $100,000 direct aid grant for Pelham schools that will be used to begin funding the “1:1 Technology Initiative,” a program that over the course of time aims to give every student a Chromebook specifically
Klein’s grant has also supported Pelham Memorial High School’s popular cheerleading program.
Senator Klein was joined by Pelham Superintendent of Schools Peter Giarrizzo and officials from Pelham Memorial High School, including Principal Jeannine Clark, Director of Physical Education and Athletics, Stephen Luciana and Director of Technology Michael Tromblee. Pelham Memorial High School’s cheerleading squad also attended the press conference. The press conference was held outside the Pelham Superintendent’s office at Pelham Memorial High School.
Senator Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) said: “Pelham’s 1:1 Technology Initiative is just the type of visionary plan needed to keep our students competitive in today’s global economy. I am thrilled that the $100,000 grant I secured for Pelham Schools will go towards enacting this program. By updating our educational tools to include state-of-the-art technology like these Chromebooks, we are giving students new platforms to collaborate and learn. I am also happy that a portion of my direct aid grant has supported additional training for Pelham Memorial High School’s cheerleading team. Delivering a well-rounded education to our children means investing in our students, in and out of the classroom.”
Pelham Superintendent of Schools Peter Giarrizzo said: “We are beyond grateful to Senator Klein for assisting us with the funding to provide our students with the tools they will need to be competitive. Chromebook technology will further our ability to prepare our students to meaningfully produce and contribute to society in fields of work that potentially don’t even exist yet. This cutting edge technology will afford our students with the necessary access and skills to engage in high level learning that will promote research, critical thinking, and problem-solving.”
