Republican Westchester County Exec Rob Astorino To Challenge Cuomo For Governor

Governor Cuomo will have a big name Republican challenger, Robert Astorino, who is the county executive of our neighbor to the north.

Here’s his announcement, released today.

Rob Astorino , 46, was worked in media in addition to his political resume, recently as  program director for the Catholic Channel on SIRIUS Satelitte Radio. A founder of 1050 AM ESPN Radio,he was the station’s Executive Producer, and as Executive Producer of the of The Michael Kay Show. He is also a television host on the MSG Network.

Astorino was a member of the Westchester County Board of Legislators from 2003 to 2005, and launched an unsuccessful bid for executive against Andy Spano.   In 2013, Astorino defeated challenger Noam Bramson, Mayor of New Rochelle.. He resides in Mount PleasantNew York.
