WHAT: State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), joined by students and representatives from colleges across the Bronx will outline his legislative proposals aimed at making college more affordable for students in New York. With the rising cost of tuition and the importance of higher education, it is critical that action is taken to reduce the cost of college for working families.

Senator Klein’s proposals, outlined in a policy report to be released at the event, include establishing a new pre-paid college tuition plan and a “Study and Stay” Program, in addition to doubling New York’s 529 college savings program and tuition tax credit. Senator Klein aims to pass these proposals in this year’s State budget, which must be passed by the end of the month.
