Northwest Bronx Democrats Pass On Charlie Rangel, Support 2 Candidates

The Northwest Bronx Democrats have officially announced their position in the 13th Bronx Congressional race, and it seems as thought they are supporting 2 candidates,  State Senator Adriano Espaillat, and Community Activist Yolanda Garcia.

This announcement stands in direct opposition to incumbent Charles Rangel, whose district coverage includes the Bronx.

The NWBx affirms that this is not an endorsement, and that they look forward to “meet and greets” with both candidates.

News Release: March 8th 2014The Northwest Bronx Democrats met on Tuesday and Wednesday night to discuss the 13th Bronx Congressional race. All proposed candidates, were discussed at this Executive Board meeting. The NWBx Dems have decided on 2 things at this time:

1- We will not support Charles Rangel for reelection. We firmly believe he has no real interest in representing The Bronx. We also believe his past achievements as a tax penalizer outweighs his successful work for Harlem-which we note have nothing to do with the Bronx. Our Norwood captain Ms Sheila Sanchez is quoted in a recent Norwood News publication in saying that “Charles Rangel does not even know where The Bronx is”.

2- We will “support” (not endorse) 2 announced candidates for “Meet & Greets” for community based gatherings.

*Current State Senator Adriano Espaillat

*Ms Yolanda Garcia- a community activist residing in the West Bronx

Our mutual feeling as a group, is at this time, we are not truly “excited” about these crop of candidates. Even sadder, we are more saddened by the chance of the current incumbent winning again. We believe any new change will be acceptable for the northwest areas of The Bronx
