Girl Shaves Head In Solidarity With Friend With Cancer, School

Kamryn Renfro, 9,   asked her parents to allow her to shave her head in solidarity with her best friend Delaney Clemmons, 11, who has cancer and had no choice her head having been shaved.  Her schoo, Caprock Academy in Grand Junction, Colorado, has a  dress code policy that ban’s shaving one’s head by choice.

“Caprock Academy does have a detailed dress code policy, which was created to promote safety, uniformity, and a non-distracting environment for the school’s students. Under this policy, shaved heads are not permitted,” said Catherine Norton Breman, President and Chair of Caprock Academy Board of Directors.

” It made me feel very special and that I’m not alone,” said Clemmons of her friend’s act of kindness.

“For a little girl to be really brave and want to shave her head in support of her friend, I thought that was a huge statement and it builds character in a child,” said the mother of the girl.

A Board meeting at the school tonight will determine if she can continue to attend classes.
