This week, the city’s third annual Participatory Budget Elections will take place in some city districts, including Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito’s South Bronx/East Harlem District. This process allows community members to decide on how to spend over $1 million on projects that directly impact their community. This year’s projects include technology upgrades for schools, park and playground renovations, and improvement to senior centers. Constituents can choose from a total of 17 projects on the ballot from which to indicate a preference.
