A part of the Bronx with a history of car crashes is getting a safety makeover.

Officials announced that Grand Concourse will follow Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn as the second of 25 planned slow zones throughout the city.

It’s part of the mayor’s Vision Zero initiative to increase road safety.

Speed limits along the five-mile stretch from East 140th Street to Mosholu Parkway will be lowered from 30 to 25 miles per hour.

“All we want to do is to make sure that as we move forward, that New York City, here in the Grand Concourse, here in the Bronx, that we continue to save lives and that we protect those lives,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.

“These signs should truly be a memory to all of those that have lost loved ones in fatalities due to vehicular accidents,” said Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj of the Bronx.

The Grand Concourse saw 12 traffic-related deaths between 2008 and 2012.
