Thanks to Bronx Park East Community Association volunteers Johanny Santana, Francine Ruh, Norma Lopez & Cecilia Smoker of “Team B-PECA” for helping supervise the four hours of canvas painting; Aicha Bamba, Juan Antigua & Councilman Ritchie Torres of “Council District Team 15” for providing many of the resources to make these activities possible; and Irene Estrada-Rukaj & her daughter for providing a donation of 15 toys/board games to give out to the winners of the Zimmerman Park Easter Egg Hunt!

Over 25 kids got to paint on professional canvas, which they took home and can now hang on their wall, and over 50 got to participate in an Easter Egg Hunt in their own Park.

A Park is the epicenter of a neighborhood.
And for this micro-neighborhood comprising the Coops, bordered by Arnow Avenue, Bronx Park East, Allerton Avenue and White Plains Road, Zimmerman Park plays that very role.
Staying in that playground, alongside the basketball courts, for 4+ hours makes one realize how much help and intervention this area (the roughest in Bronx Community Board 11) truly needs.

These kids and teens need role models and guiding, guarding eyes.
