Senator Gustavo Rivera Stops By Community Board 11 Meeting

gustavo1Senator Gustavo Rivera spoke at Community Board 11 last night about health and safety issues, as well as some of his offices community events.   The Senator represents a small portion of the area in Van Nest, while Senator Jeff Klein represents the majority of the community district.

It was notable the number of mentions he made regarding Senator Jeff Klein, once a member of the Board, and who Rivera mentioned he “doesn’t always agree with”.    At Klein’s reelection announcement earlier in the week just a few blocks from Lubin Hall where the Board meets, Councilman Fernando Cabrera (>2nd from left)and Rivera challenger endorsed Klein. ( Senator Rivera praised  Klein’s SNUG program, which involves “street smart mediators” who will help settle the disputes to stem street violence.  (Click on the photo at the left for The Chroncle‘s coverage of the SNUG announcement last month at Jacobi Medical Center, a partner in the program.)

Rivera also spoke about a job fair on May 8 (see posting below) and distributed information on identity theft.
