Mayor de Blasio Welcomes Senate Passage of Sandy Property Tax Relief Bill

Today, Mayor Bill de Blasio welcomed the New York State Senate’s passage of legislation that would provide property tax relief to New York City property owners who rebuilt or repaired their homes after Hurricane Sandy, and who are now facing large increases in their property tax bills for City Fiscal Year 2015.

The Senate passed the bill 60-0 this afternoon, just one day after the Assembly passed the legislation 111-0.

Mayor de Blasio released the following statement:

“I want to express my gratitude to the Senate for swiftly and unanimously passing this property tax abatement legislation, which means so much to our fellow New Yorkers who rebuilt after Sandy.

“Now, I look forward to working with the Governor to make this bill law, so that homeowners get the relief they deserve.”
