VN Library Events-June 2014

The June 2014 calendar of events for the Van Nest Library–located on Barnes Avenue between Pelham Parkway South and Lydig Avenue–is attached.

Some highlights:

* Why Read? – This storytelling program features bubble sculptures, plate-spinning, magic, music and more! For children of all ages. Monday, June 2 (TODAY!) at 3:30 pm.
* Open Book at the Library – Our monthly guide to the library for adults 50 years and older. Special guest Maria Maldonado from the 49th Precinct will be joining us to talk about personal safety. Thursday, June 5 at 1:30 pm.
* Professional Image Development – This workshop focuses on how individuals can build a personal brand for job seeking and business. For adults. Thursday, June 12 at 1:30 pm.
* Make Jewelry – A hands on craft program for teens. Tuesday, June 24 at 3:30 pm.
Pelham Parkway South and Lydig Avenue – This year, we’ll be kicking off our Summer Reading program with a block party out on Barnes Avenue between Pelham Parkway South and Lydig Avenue! There will be music, food, games of activities for people of all ages. A World Dance Party will take place at 2 pm. And, of course, we’ll be signing up kids (and everyone else who’s interested) for Summer Reading. Friday, June 27, 12-4 pm.
* Plus all of our regular story time, craft, science, discussion, movie, computer and gaming programs!
