The Flags Are Flying In The Bronx

If you have any visitors this weekend, you may be presented with the question “Why are there random flags around? As in, not American flags?”  While its the season of flag flying for the stars and stripes, the World Cup every few years brings out the international flags in many Bronx neighborhoods.  And as the borough has grown more and more diverse, its not one particular country’s flag being flown in any one neighborhood anymore.  So, go Team USA, but word on the street is they have no shot. (Truth be told: I don’t do this soccer/football thing, so I’m winging it here.)

So if you do want to root for a contender, here’s who my neighbors down the block are “going for”:

Argentina

Italy

Germany
