Senator Klein Hosts Women’s Wellness Lunch, Commemorating Bronx Women’s Wellness Week

Senator Klein hosted a luncheon on Saturday commemorating participation by nearly 200 Bronx women in Women’s Wellness Week, a project launched by the US Department of Health and run by Urban Health Plan and the YMCA. Last year, Senator Klein secured $50,000 in funding to support Urban Health Plan’s Women’s Wellness Week program, which consisted of free health screenings, exercise classes and counseling aimed at helping women develop healthy habits.

At the luncheon, Senator Klein applauded women for making their health a priority and presented certificates of recognition to each of the attendees.

“For so many, the stresses of work and family can oftentimes mean that our personal health comes at the bottom of our list of priorities. However, the research is clear: developing healthy habits is critical to the overall health and well-being of our families and communities,”  Klein said, That’s why I was proud to secure funding to support Women’s Wellness Week here in the Bronx. Women’s Wellness Week is a fantastic project that provides both education tools for how to stay healthy while also giving women a forum for focusing on their health in a fun, open environment.”
