Councilman Torres Announces Funding For New NCBH Maternity Ward

Yesterday, Councilman Ritchie Torres held a press conference at North Central Bronx Hospital to announce $600,000 dollars in City Council funding for the reopening of the institution’s maternity ward.

The re-opening of the hospital’s maternity unit, announced in March, will mean expectant mothers and their families will not need to travel a long distance for services, as well as less wait times and overcrowding at nearby hospitals, including Montefiore Medical Center’s Wakefield campus and Jacobi Medical Center.  The Council funding will enable proper staffing and resources for the ward.
