The third weekend of binder and asphalt overlay replacement work at the Throgs Neck Bridge will result in two lanes closed during overnight hours and one lane closed this weekend Aug. 8-11. Motorists should expect delays and use the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge or Robert F. Kennedy Bridge as an alternate.
One lane to Queens will remain closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug.8 through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11. During overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. two of the three Queens-bound lanes will be closed.
A total of seven weekends of work, which may not be done consecutively, are needed in order to replace 90,000-square-feet of binder and asphalt overlay. All work is heavily dependent on good weather. Once the work is finished there will be a smoother, more-even riding surface.
