Tomorrow, Councilman Jimmy Vacca and and The Doe Fund’s President George T. McDonald, will hold a press conference at the intersection of Westchester, Crosby, and Buhre avenues to announce the first Bronx partnership with The Doe Fund’s Ready, Willing & Able program, which cleans and beautifies district streets and sidewalks.
The Doe Fund’s cleaning crews – comprised of men who are beginning a year-long program of transitional work, education, housing and career development – will service streets and sidewalks along major corridors in Vacca’s district, improving cleanliness and safety throughout the community.
The Council Member will be joined by local business owners and community leaders, and members of the cleaning crew assigned to the district – also known as The Doe Fund’s “Men in Blue,” due to their distinctive blue uniforms.
