Hello All,
I’ve noticed as of late an increase in the thefts of Honda’s in the Bronx in the past two weeks or so. Thieves are stealing Civic’s and Accord’s model years 1990 through 2000.
These Honda models have been in the top 10 most commonly stolen vehicles in the nation for the past 10-20 years (depending on model year). In the event that you
or anyone you know owns one of these Honda’s, you might want to seriously consider taking measures to keep your vehicle. These types of thefts happen mostly
between dusk to dawn.
Some tips to keep your vehicle;
· If you have a garage, keep these Honda’s inside of them.
· If you have a neighbor that has a garage that they are not using, try to make a deal with
them that allows you to keep your vehicle in it. Pay them for the space if you have too!
· Invest in alarm systems that come with remotes that can notify you if the alarm have been triggered.
Some more advanced alarm systems send these messages to your cell phone.
· Utilize pay parking lots to store and or park your Honda.
· Avoid parking these Honda’s on the street (if possible).
· INVEST IN SERVICES LIKE LOJACK, ON-STAR, ETC!!
Thefts of these model Honda’s have been so rampant for so long that chances are good that the one you own has been stolen before or is currently stolen, but with modified V.I.N
numbers and plates to make it appear normal. You may want to seriously consider selling off these vehicles if you are unable to take serious measures to protect them. Especially if the one you own is in fair-good condition. If the one you own is a show/tuner vehicle then please invest the extra money to store and protect them.
