Belmont Society of Arts & Culture Presents Sculptor Jeanine Alfieri

Bronx BRIO Award Winner to Exhibit in Arthur Avenue’s Rex Hall

Bronx, NY – August 31, 2014 – The Belmont Society of Arts & Culture and Rex Hall is proud to introduce its first artist in residence, sculptor Jeanine Alfieri. Alfieri’s solo exhibition, Ego versus Soul, is a collection of her latest works detailing her observations of our inner thoughts and actions as human beings. The show will run from October 1 through October 29, with the grand opening reception on Saturday, October 4, from 7:00PM to 10:00PM. The show will also feature a musical performance by the Monticelli Trio, a performance piece by Autumn Kioti inspired by Alfieri’s work, and food will be catered by Whoopies Miniature Dessert Company.

Alfieri is known for her use of the three mediums she loves most: fabric, sculpture and painting, combining these materials uniquely and without restriction. Alfieri founded The Fountainhead Gallery in 2007 out of her Chelsea loft, its mission to educate and help promote young or less experienced artists with their careers. Today, The Fountainhead Gallery has evolved into a unified alliance of artists, a movement with the commitment to help each other succeed, calling themselves Collective Energy. Alfieri states, “If artists can take all the energy they put toward their individual efforts in reference to their careers and point it in one cohesive direction, there is no limit to what we could achieve.” Alfieri has curated several shows throughout her career, including the Armory Show in collaboration with the Bronx Art Alliance. This marked the first time the Bronx was ever included in the renowned international institution. In addition to having won a multitude of awards for sculpture, Alfieri was recently named Bronx Council On the Arts 2013 BRIO Award winner. Alfieri is a graduate of the California College of Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Textiles and is a member of The National Association of Women Artists, International Women Artists’ Salon, The International Sculpture Center, and the Provincetown Art Association. Alfieri lives and works in the Bronx. For more information, visit JeanineAlfieri.com.
