The Bronx Rolls out a Warm Welcome to City Comptroller Stringer

On Wednesday October 23rd, New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer visited the 161 street Business Improvement District in the Bronx.

Stringer toured the BID lead by Executive Director Cary Goodman. Other participants included BID Treasurer Joann Portman and board member Mike Rendin among others.

Tour kicked off at 158 street and River Avenue, by the Derek Jeter’s murals.  “You can’t be here and not stop at the famous Monumento Empanadas” said Executive Director Cary Goodman.  Comptroller Stringer was greeted along the way by Bronxites, and stopped by various businesses to talk and hear firsthand from the business owners about issues of concerns to them.

Visit included the bid garden – which is the only bid in the Bronx that has its own garden. Comptroller Stringer also stopped at Molino-Rojo, a family owned and run Dominican restaurant where he greeted the staff and talked to the owner.

The tour concluded the actual 161st BID members meeting; “I’m here to listen to your concerns – and as comptroller to find new ways to improve this BID” – said Stringer.
