Election Day is November 4: Make Sure Your Voice is Heard

Election Day is less than one week away. The date is next TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4th. It is important that all registered voters VOTE. We have three statewide elections. These will determine our leadership for the next four years. Who we elect for Governor, Lt. Governor, Comptroller and Attorney General will determine if we, the residents of the Bronx and beyond, have a state which will serve ALL of the voters of New York: women, labor, gays and lesbians, the disabled, our children, our freedoms and the unprotected including animals.

If you do not vote you are forfeiting a very important right that all citizens of our nation have. It is actually more than a right. It is a responsibility. It is a very serious responsibility. To shirk that responsibility is to give up what democracy is all about. All elections are important. They determine the path of the government tat serves our daily lives and the lives of those we love. For those who do not vote and then complain I feel that you have forfeited your right to complain. How you vote is up to you. Be an informed and participating voter. Our future depends on that.

The following Political Parties will be on the ballot; Democratic, Republican, Conservative, Working Families, Women’s Equality, Independence, Green, Stop Common Core, Libertarian, Right to Life, Rent is Too Damn High, Tax Revolt, Constitution, Life & Justice and Socialist.

Also on the ballot are three propositions:

Proposal One- Revising NYS Redistricting Procedure- Although not perfect it is a step in the right direction.

Proposal Two – Permitting Electronic Distribution of State Legislative Bills- This proposal makes sense and will hasten legislation

Proposal Three- The Smart Schools Bond Act of 2014 -This proposal will provide needed funding for all children in New York Schools. Very much needed.

In the coming days I will be informing all of their choices in the varied electoral choices. I strongly suggest that all do a search and get more details or feel free to ask my opinion. The important thing is to vote. If you don’t vote you are not part of the process we call democracy.
