Tour de Bronx, Hon. Aurelia Greene Day, Barnes & Noble

On Sunday, October 27, 2014, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and The Bronx Tourism Council co-hosted the 20th annual “Tour de Bronx,” New York State’s largest cycling event. Over 6,000 riders took part in the event, including Borough President Diaz and his wife, Hilda. Here, Borough President Diaz addresses thousands of cyclists participating in the 40-mile ride in the shadow of The Bronx County Building and Yankee Stadium, prior to the Sunday morning launch.

On Saturday, October 25, 2014, Deputy Bronx Borough President Aurelia Greene celebrated her 80th birthday with a gala at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. During the event, in honor of her decades of service in his office, as a New York State Assembly Member and as a community activist, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. declared the day “Hon. Aurelia Greene Day in The Bronx.”

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. signed up for a savings club membership and purchased several books following Thursday’s announcement that the Barnes & Noble in Co-op City would remain open. The bookseller and its landlord, Prestige Properties, reached a compromise extending the store’s lease for two years following the intervention of Borough President Diaz and his staff.  Read full release here.
