P.S. 108 Hosts Wonderful Veterans Day Celebration

P.S. 108 held their 6th Annual Veterans Day Celebration on Friday, November 7th.  The event brings children and veterans together to commemorate the effort and sacrifices veterans have made to help secure the causes of freedom around the world.

The children performed patriotic songs with every note exemplifying the sincerity of the their appreciation.  A viewing of  “The Scavenger,” the story of Joseph Garofalo a WWII veteran who was in the 121st Battalion, U.S.N, Sea Bees, 4th Marine Division, followed.  There were also veteran speakers so shared their appreciation and warmth for their brothers & sisters in arms.

There was a table of empty chairs set up to recognize and remember MIA/POW veterans from our past conflicts.

Following the ceremony,  all veterans received lapel pins and long sleeved tee shirts with patriotic  logos.

The food was graciously donated by Patrizias of Woodlawn and a very appropriately decorated cake  was supplied by Conti’ s.

The Bronx Chronicle thanks P.S. 108 Principal Mr Sperranza and his staff for putting together a wonderful tribute to our veterans.
