STATEMENT FROM BP DIAZ RE: Police Shooting in the 46th Precinct

“Last night, two police officers were shot in the 46th Precinct. Reports indicate that their injuries are not life threatening, and for that we are incredibly grateful. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families as they recover.

“The Bronx is not a safe haven for criminals, and we cannot and will not tolerate the criminal actions of thugs. To that end, I urge anyone who has information about this crime to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS and share what they know, to help take down those individuals who would commit such reprehensible acts.

“The men and women of the NYPD put their lives on the line each and every day to keep the people of The Bronx, and the entire city, safe. We respect their sacrifice, and we will continue to work with our police to make our borough an even better place to live, work and raise a family,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
