Charges Filed In Shooting of Officers Dossi and Pellerano

District Attorney Robert Johnson has announced that charges have been filed against the two individuals charged with shooting officers Andew Dossi and Aliro Pellerano. Both have been charged with robbery and other crimes.

Jason Polanco has been charged with attempted murder of the two police officers. The charges state that Polanco did “…attempt to cause the death of a police officer…who was engaged in the performance of his official duties”. Video surveillance shows Polanco aiming at and shooing Officer Dossi in the left elbow into the left side of his back. Officer Pellarano is shown on video being shot in his left arm and left lower chest above his abdomen.

At least one of the officers had his shield displayed. It is also alleged that as Polanco fled he forced himself into a vehicle and pointed his revolver at one of the occupants and attempted to murder him. The weapon jammed. He forced the people out of the car and drove off finally crashing the vehicle several blocks away. In addition to attempted murder Polanco was charged with robbery, assault, resisting arrest, criminal possession of a weapon, stealing a car, criminal possession of stolen property. Polanco is represented by Joel Peyser. The Assistant District Attorney prosecuting the case is Aaron Kaplan. No bail was set and the case was adjourned until January 12.

Joshua Kemp was charged with robbery, burglary, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. Kemp was also shot apparently by Polanco as he fired at the police officers. Bail for Kemp was set at $200,000. He is represented by Marvin Raskin. He will be back in court on January 12. Aaron Kaplan is the Assistant District Attorney representing the People.
