Congressman Eliot Engel issued a strong statement condemning the attack on Charlie Hebdo, expressing his support for Charlie Hebdo and all publications regardless of their poltical views to publish their cartoons, editorials, columns and news analysis.

Engel, the ranking Democrat on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today made the following statement regarding the terrorist attack in Paris:”I’m outraged and disgusted by today’s terrorist attack in Paris. My heart goes out to the families and colleagues of all the victims.
“Free expression and a free press are among the most cherished values of a free society and two of the strongest tools we have in the fight against violentextremism: they shine the light of truth on a false and dangerous ideology. And as those responsible for today’s barbarity will soon learn, violence and fear will never silence those who yearn for freedom.We stand with our French friends and allies today as they mourn their compatriots and work to bring those responsible for this attack to swift justice.”
