2014 was a year of incredible progress

Today, Mayor Bill de Blasio will deliver his State of Our City address.

In his speech, the mayor will lay out how we’re all going to work together to move our city forward in 2015. First, though, let’s take a look back at all we’ve accomplished since January 1, 2014.

In just one year, we launched free, high-quality, full-day pre-k for more than 50,000 four year-old New Yorkers, we expanded paid sick leave to more than 500,000 New Yorkers who previously had to choose between their health and their paycheck, we ended the overuse of stop-and-frisk, and we oversaw a big drop in crime.

That’s already a lot for just one year in office, but it isn’t even close to the whole story of all we’ve accomplished together.
