“I believe that today’s indictment by a Brooklyn grand jury sends a clear message that every life matters and every individual must be held accountable for their actions. The fatal shooting of Akai Gurley inside a Brooklyn housing complex was a tragic situation. In the pursuit of justice, we have an obligation to try and treat everyone the same.
