HIDALGO FERRERAS Ferreras, an NYPD traffic agent, is charged with 3rdDegree Grand Larceny and 1st Degree Falsifying Business Records and additional crimes for allegedly taking thousands of dollars to have parking tickets dismissed by Bronx County’s Parking Violations Bureau. Ferreras is accused of creating phony documents detailing the vehicles’ location at nonexistent auto body shops and bogus movie sets.

MARCELO SOLANO Solano is charged with 4 counts of 2nd and 3rd Degree Rape, 4 counts of Sexual Misconduct, 1 count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and 9 counts of 3rdDegree Sexual Abuse for his sexual relationship with a minor he met on Facebook. Solano, 47, is alleged to have engaged in sexual conduct with the victim at his Cauldwell Av. home on three separate occasions in October and December of 2014.

Rikers Island Captain Simancas and Correction Officers Wint and Jackson are charged with 1st Degree Attempted Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, 1st Degree Falsifying Business Records, 1st Degree Offering a False Instrument for Filing, and Official Misconduct for the post-Superstorm Sandy abuse of a confined inmate. The men allegedly handcuffed inmate Gabino Geneo in his cell, took him out into the vestibule of the facility and repeatedly struck him with their feet, fists and batons, rendering him unconscious. Geneo and other inmates had been in their cells for much longer than usual because of the storm, and the prison was short-staffed.

EDGAR MORALES Morales is to be sentenced for 2nd Degree Attempted Murder, 1st Degree Manslaughter, 1st Degree Gang Assault and other charges for an August 2002 shooting at a party which resulted in the death of 10-year-old Melaney Mendez and paralyzed bystander Javier Tochimani. Morales was originally convicted in 2007 in the first-ever use of the New York State Anti-Terrorism Statute against an organized gang (the St. James Boys), but that conviction was overturned by the New York State Court of Appeals in 2012. A 6 week retrial in 2014 led to Morales’ conviction.

HAROLD GRANT Grant is charged with 2nd Degree Attempted Murder, 1stand 2nd Degree Assault, and 2nd Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon for an  August 2012 shooting seriously injuring 9-yr-old Guillermo Delacruz Jr. The incident stemmed from an argument between Grant’s girlfriend and another woman, both of whom proceeded to retrieve their boyfriends to settle the score. Grant is accused of shooting wildly into a crowd on Walton Avenue, striking Delacruz Jr., an innocent bystander. Grant fled the jurisdiction but was later apprehended in Virginia in November of 2012.

CRAIG WHITEFIELD AND ALONZO JOHNSON Whitefield (aka ‘Jungle’) and Johnson (aka ‘Boogie’) are to be sentenced following convictions for Murder in the 2nd Degree, Manslaughter in the 1st Degree, Robbery in the 1st Degree, Robbery in the 2nd Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree in the April 2012 killing of Jose Andujar and robbery of Angel Mangual. Both incidents took place in the Edenwald Houses, the largest NYCHA development in the Bronx.

Ongoing Trial

RICHARD BLOOMFIELD Bloomfield is charged with 2nd Degree Murder and 1st Degree Manslaughter for the November 2012 death of Madonna Martin. Martin, a nursing student and an LPN at Columbia-Presbyterian had been displaced by Hurricane Sandy, and temporarily moved into co-worker Bloomfield’s Mott Haven apartment. The defendant is accused of strangling his roommate and leaving her body in a parked car.
