FIRST EVER STATE OF THE CHURCH ADDRESS TONIGHT IN HARLEM

NYC FAITH LEADERS GATHER FOR THE FIRST STATE OF THE CHURCH ADDRESS AS PART OF THE HEALING OF OUR CITY MOVEMENT  

Tonight, hundreds of faith leaders, elected officials and laypersons are expected to gather for a historic, first-ever State of the Church address at the First Corinthian Baptist Church in Harlem. Rev. Michael Walrond, Jr., is the host pastor. Former Assemblyman Rev. Karim Camara, founding director of the New York State Office on Faith-Based Community Services is a special speaker.

This state of the church event seeks to bring together concerned Christian faith leaders as a means of healing a City divided by criminal justice inequities, income inequality and health disparities, and to develop a vision for the modern church.

Leading faith leaders from all five boroughs are expected to attend, including Rev. Dr. A. R. Bernard, Brooklyn, NY;  Rev. Dr. Floyd Flake, Queens, NY;  Rev. Michael Walrond, Jr., Harlem, NY; Rev. Jacque Degraff, New York, NY; Archbishop Angelo Rosario, Bronx, NY; Bishop Victor Brown, Staten Island; Revs. Tim and Que English, Bronx, NY; Rev. Dr. Raymond Rivera, Bronx, NY; Rev. Dr. Gabriel Salguero, NY, NY; and others.

Comptroller Scott Stringer, Public Advocate Letitia James, Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson and other elected officials are expected to attend.

The Bronx-based Celia Cruz High School of Music Choir will perform “Glory,” the Oscar-winning Best Song by John Legend and Pharrell Williams. Also, two-time McDonaldfest Gospel Artist winner, Jose Figueroa is scheduled to perform.

First Corinthian Baptist Church is located 1912 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. ( W. 116th Street) in Manhattan. Doors open at 4:30pm and the program begins promptly at 5:00pm.
