BRONX — New York City Council Member Andy King and New York City Department of Sanitation

Commissioner Kathryn Garcia are pleased to announce that new trash receptacle cans are being placed throughout the 12th Council District today, March 16th.

The old can bared the name of former City Council Member Larry Seabrook.

“After having several conversations with residents,  I came up with a new inspirational receptacle wrap to inspire and set the tone for new community engagement in the 12th District,” explained Council Member King, who unveiled the first of the more than 50 new receptacle cans last Wednesday, March 12th at his 2015 State of the 12th Council District Address.

“As a member of the Sanitation committee of the Council, I regularly work on issues relating to the relationship of waste management and the beautification of our neighborhoods.  In my community, these new and improved receptacles show that we in city government are committed to renewing public spaces,” said Council Member King.

“The New York City Department of Sanitation is pleased to partner with Council Member Andy King to provide additional high end litter baskets that will enhance the cleanliness of busy streets in the 12th District of the Bronx. I thank Council Member King for his continuing support of the Department and for helping us keep New York City clean especially by arranging for extra litter baskets in the busiest areas of his district,” said Commissioner Kathryn Garcia, New York City Department of Sanitation.

The new trash receptacle cans were funded by Council Member King.
