UPDATE: Carmen Rosa, Long Serving CB #12 District Manager Dies

Over the weekend, Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Olinville and Baychester community leaders learned that beloved and long-time Community Board 12 District Manager Carmen Rosa died. Ms. Rosa died last Friday night. Her cause of death is said to be cancer-related.

In a statement City Councilman Andy King and his wife, Neva Shillingford mourned the passing of District Manager Carmen Rosa and sent their condolences to her family, to the Community Board 12 team and the 12th District residents who loved her. “She was one of those quiet heroes who had a profound impact on our community through her hard work and sacrifice. May she rest in peace.”

Fernando Tirado, a former Community Board 7 district manager and colleague of Ms. Rosa described her as a dear friend. Tirado wrote on Facebook that his friend “was one of the most down to earth people I ever met, and I enjoyed talking with her about everything Bronx.”

The Bronx Chronicle will share funeral arrangements as they become known. We encourage those who knew Carmen Rosa to share their remembrances in the Comments section on this page.
