Hosted by her husband, attorney and executive officer of Bronx-Manhattan North Association of Realtors, Eliezer Rodriguez, Esq., the night was a who’s who of the borough as a number of close friends, family and politicians came out to celebrate the evening and offer their praises.

Judge Fiordaliza A. Rodriguez was Mayor Bill de Blasio’s first Dominican judicial appointment to Family Court. It was another milestone for Dominicans in New York.

Opening the evening, family friend Assemblyman Luis R. Sepulveda highlighted Ms. Rodriguez’s perseverance and special aptitude for her new position. Sepulveda said that those qualities assured her of success.

Those who know Judge Fiordaliza Rodriguez know her as a woman of integrity, high standards and professionalism. Assemblyman Jose Rivera praised her as qualified, passionate, compassionate and a hard worker dedicated to serving those in need. For others, her judicial appointment is a validation and recognition to the hard work and contributions of the largest Dominican community in the United States.

Taking over the microphone was her husband, Eliezer Rodriguez, who then offered a few words of his own. Before bringing his two sons up to the podium to congratulate their mother, Mr. Rodriguez recited a poem he wrote especially in her honor for that evening.

Sworn in by one of the many judges in attendance, Ms. Rodriguez was overwhelmed with joy and thanked all those who supported her through her journey, stating “I wouldn’t be here if I hadn’t known each and every one of you.”

The new family court judge then turned the night over to her guests, encouraging them to enjoy the open bar and catering; the latter courtesy of Latin American restaurant, Caridad.
