Parkchester Man Gunned Down While Holding His Baby Girl

Allen McQueen, a 21-year-old man, was shot and killed while holding his baby daughter, Taylor, on a street in Parkchester, according to several witnesses.

Police, responding to a 911 call at 1:19 p.m.,  said the man was shot in the head outside 1531 Taylor Ave.  McQueen was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The child, who is about a year old,  was unharmed.  McQueen was walking his daughter to the playground across the street when the shooting happened.

Witnesses said a masked gunman stepped out from behind a car and fired several times. A witness who was standing nearby said he heard two gunshots and then a woman came running into the lobby of his building holding the baby.

Police said no one has been arrested, but the suspect, described as a man in his 20s wearing a black shirt with white lettering, got away in a black Mercedes Benz with a license plate beginning with the letter G, police said.

As of last Sunday, 168 people have been killed in the city this year, a nearly 10% increase over the same period in 2014, according to NYPD statistics.
