Police report that a suspect is currently in custody in regard to the robbery of an off-duty cop in the Bronx.
Police confirmed Thursday that the Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested the suspect in Philadelphia.
An off-duty police officer was walking to work Wednesday morning when she was attacked by a man who made off with her gun, police said. The weapon has been recovered, police confirmed.
The culprit — identified initially by police as Samuel Thornton — approached the officer near East 226 Street and Bronx Boulevard, police said. First, he tried to steal her bag but the officer fought back. That’s when the attacker punched her in the face and snatched her bag containing her off-duty weapon, police said.
Police did not confirm that the man in custody is Samuel Thornton.
