RAPPER “BOBBY SHMURDA” ARRAIGNED ON

PRISON CONTRABAND, PERJURY CHARGES

(Bronx, NY – July 23, 2015) – Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson today announced the Supreme Court arraignment of ACKQUILLE “Bobby Shmurda” POLLARD, on charges of:

 

            Promoting Prison Contraband in the 1st Degree (Class D Felony)

            Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

            Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

            Perjury in the 1st Degree (Class D Felony, 2 counts)

            Perjury in the 2nd Degree (Class E Felony, 2 counts)

            Perjury in the 3rd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor, 2 counts)

 

The 20-year-old hip-hop and rap artist is accused of receiving a sharp metal object from his girlfriend, the separately-charged KIMBERLY ROUSSEAU, who was visiting POLLARD on June 21, 2015, while he was being held at Rikers Island’s Anna M. Kross Center on an underlying case being handled by the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor.  ROUSSEAU is accused of reaching under her bra for the purportedly home-made knife and handing it to POLLARD.

 

ACKQUILLE POLLARD is also accused of falsely testifying to the Grand Jury about the incident.  He pled not guilty to all charges before Justice George Villegas and was remanded back to Rikers Island.

 

 

The 18-year-old KIMBERLY ROUSSEAU pled not guilty when she was arraigned on the indictment on July 22nd.  She pled not guilty to:

            Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

            Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

 

            ROUSSEAU was released on her own recognizance, and her case has been adjourned until August 13th in Part SCA, Bronx Supreme Court, for possible disposition.

 

            If convicted of the charges, ACKQUILLE “Bobby Shmurda” POLLARD faces up to seven years behind bars.

 

His case has been adjourned until October 14th, 2015, Part 96, Bronx Supreme Court, 265 E. 161st Street.

 

The cases against ACKQUILLE POLLARD and KIMBERLY ROUSSEAU are being prosecuted by Assistant D.A. Timothy Collins of Trial Bureau 20/50.

 

The charges in this indictment are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
