Central Park Procession Planned for Pope Francis

Pope Francis waves during his Angelus prayer in Saint Peter's Square at the VaticanThe Mayor’s Office announced that on Friday, September 25, Pope Francis will greet thousands of guests in a historic procession through Central Park along the West Drive. Residents of New York State may apply to receive two (2) tickets via an online ticket giveaway contest.

 

New Yorkers can visit nyc.gov/papalvisit or call 311 between Thursday, September 3 and Monday, September 7 for the chance to attend this special event. Ticket winners will be notified on Thursday, September 10.

 

“The procession through Central Park will give thousands of New Yorkers an opportunity to come face to face with Pope Francis,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “We’re proud to welcome one of the world’s most powerful voices to our great city next month, and we are grateful to the archdiocese for their cooperation in giving even more New Yorkers a chance to join in this historic visit.”

 

The Central Park Procession of Pope Francis will take place prior to Mass at Madison Square Garden.
