Son of Marcus Garvey to Receive Planet Africa Award

TORONTO, Oct. 21, 2015 /CNW/ – Dr. Julius W. Garvey, Vascular Surgeon and son of legendary figure,Marcus Garvey and others are set to receive prestigious Planet Africa Awards on October 24th at Pearson Convention Centre, 2638 Steeles Ave. E., Brampton. The awards program recognize deserving individuals and organizations that are making a profound difference in the world.

Headliners and Keynote speakers have included, Dr. Bernice King, CEO of the King Center and daughter of Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; legendary singer, Yvonne Chaka Chaka; Noble prize winner, Prof.Wole Soyinka and Sharon Marley, daughter of Bob Marley.

Some of the 2015 recipients are: Leadership Award, Hon. Michael Coteau, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport; Science & Technology Award, Dr. Joshua Yusuf, President & Director of Academics, All Saints University; Lifetime Achievement Award, George Carter; first Black Judge in Canada, Nelson Mandela Humanitarian Award, Tamara Gordon, Founder, Tamara Gordon Foundation and Development Award; and Volunteer Award,Gwen Chapman, Community organizer.
