JANUARY 2016 CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS

Circle Time: Children from birth to 3 years old and their caregivers can enjoy interactive stories, songs, and finger plays while spending time with other toddlers in the neighborhood. There is a limit of 15 children and their caregivers per session.  Space is limited on a first come / first serve basis the day of the program.  Every Tuesday from 11-11:45 a.m.

Singing Stories with Lou Gallo: Musical programs for babies, toddlers and young children with parent/caregiver. January 8, January 15, January 22 at 11 a.m.

Read & Play: Children from birth to 3 years old and caregivers can take part in wonderful stories, discover amazing toys, and meet new friends in this fun, informal program.  There is a limit of 15 children and their caregivers per session.  Space is limited on a first come / first serve basis the day of the program.  Thursday January 14th, 21st and Friday January 29th from 11-11:30 am.

Craft-A-Way: Drop in and participate in creating projects related to a theme or holiday. Ages 1-4. January 15th  from 12-1:00 p.m.

JANUARY 2016 TEEN and TWEEN PROGRAMS

After School Lounge: Come to the library after school for studying and a chance to unwind. Every Monday-Thursday from 3:00- 5:00 p.m.

DYI Dream Catcher: Learn about the origins of dream catchers and then make your own! Presented by Jailin Acevedo. Recommended for ages 12 to 18 years old. January 8th at 3 p.m.

After School Activities: Every Friday at 3:00 p.m.

JANUARY 2016 ADULT PROGRAMS

Lecture: Understanding the US Tax System: Leading Tax Professionals will be available to answer your tax questions and provide insights into tax preparation, amended returns and tax planning considerations.
We will also be prepared discuss the new health care laws and their tax implications. January 23rd at 1 p.m.

Mobile Adoption Van: Animal Care Centers of NYC will have pets available for adoption. Come provide the gift of a new home for these amazing pets. January 23rd from 12-4 p.m.

Afternoon Computer Classes: These sessions will be geared toward adult students who’ve already learned the basics, and are ready to begin tackling more specific questions. Every Thursday from 12-1:30pm

Island Writers-Creative Writing Group.  This is a group for all who are interested in writing professionally or personally. Come check us out.  It’s free and special! Meets every Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Computer Q & A: Tuesday mornings are all about the basics. “How do I turn a computer on?” “How do I use a mouse?” “How do I get on the Internet?” If you’ve asked yourself any of these questions, then we can help you! Every Tuesday from 10-12 p.m.

 

Résumé Writing Workshop and Online Job Search: Designed to assist in creating a new or updated resume. Topics include cover letters and resources for job opportunities. A flash drive is required to save your work. Every Wednesday from 10-12 p.m.

One-On-One: Computer and Tablet Assistance. Stop in or call to make an appointment for one hour of personalized instruction that addresses your questions and concerns.
