Salamanca Grabs DC 37 Endorsement For 17 Council Race

In advance of this evening’s candidate’s forum at Pregones Theater, Rafael Salamanca, Jr. netted the endorsement of DC 37, New York’s largest public employee union.

“The future of the Bronx can be bright if we continue to work together to make progress for everyday working people,” said Salamanca.  “Our families deserve a strong voice on the City Council who will fight everyday for for social justice – and I believe I can be that voice.”
In accepting the endorsement, Mr. Salamanca mentioned that his mother was a DC 37 member.
“We are proud to endorse Mr. Salamanca Jr. to serve as the next city council member from the 17th District in the Bronx because he does a great job in addressing the needs of the South Bronx community, and is a strong supporter of the issues that matter to our members,” said DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido. “He can count on this union to work diligently on behalf of his candidacy by deploying our powerful and effective field operation to get out the vote on February 23.”
Salamanca was joined by Bronx Assemblyman Marcos Crespo, DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido, DC 37 Political Action Committee Chairman Dennis Ifill and dozens of DC 37 members.
Salamanca and nine other candidates are running for the seat vacated by Council Member Maria del Carmen Arroyo in the upcoming nonpartisan Special Election on Tuesday, February 23rd.
