The influential education-research company Princeton Review, just published its 2016 annual college handbook and ranked the State University of New York Maritime College at Fort Schuyer, among the top 10 schools in the nation for career placement after graduation.

Studies show the number one worry of young Millennials is finding jobs after graduation and, now more than ever, young bright students are looking at new metrics like return on investment (ROI) and mean salary statistics when choosing colleges.

Founded in 1874, the SUNY Maritime College was the first federally approved maritime academy to be founded in the United States, and is one of only seven degree-granting maritime academies in the United States.

This year, SUNY Maritime came in seventh place. The college for years has had nearly 100 percent of its graduates working in careers of their choice after graduation.

“SUNY Maritime excels at educating our students to give them the knowledge and skills they need for a strong start in their careers,” said Rear Admiral Michael J. Alfultis, president of the college. “Applied learning has been our mission for 140 years and will continue to be the driving force to ensure our graduates are ready for the professional world.”

The college was also named a “Best Northeastern College”, a “College that Pays You Back” and was ranked among the top colleges and universities in the nation for internship opportunities.

SUNY Maritime also took first place on the PayScale, Inc list of colleges whose graduates have the highest median salary 10 years after graduation, and first place on the BestColleges.com list of schools with the highest Return On Investment.
