NYC VOTES RELEASES VOTER GUIDE TO CANDIDATES FOR COUNCIL DISTRICT 17 SPECIAL ELECTION

The New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) announces the release of the official NYC Votes Voter Guide for the special election in Bronx Council District 17 that will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. The online guide provides non-partisan information on the candidates appearing on the ballot, as well as information on where and how to vote. The Voter Guide is available in English and Spanish.

“Decisions made in the City Council have a profound impact on the lives of New Yorkers, influencing how city government addresses issues like affordable housing, resources for schools, and job development, to name a few,” said CFB Executive Director Amy Loprest. “It is critical that all registered voters in Council District 17 cast an informed ballot next week.”

The Video Voter Guide (VVG) will be broadcast on BronxNet TV in the days leading up to the election. The VVG includes 2-minute statements from each of the candidates on the ballot. The broadcast schedule is shown below, in addition the show is available on demand at www.bronxnet.org.

“Encouraging civic participation and helping to foster an informed public is at the core of BronxNet’s mission to serve the people of the Bronx,” said Executive Director Michael Max Knobbe.  “We are proud to partner with NYC Votes in producing and televising The Video Voter Guide for CD17 to help raise voter awareness.”

“NYC Votes is happy to work closely with BronxNet TV to bring this important election information to Bronx voters,” said Onida Coward Mayers, director of voter assistance at the CFB. “Partnering with community television outlets like BronxNet to empower voters is central to our mission.”
