“EMERGENCY CALL TO ACTION” RALLY RESPONDING TO TRUMP’S ATTACKS ON WOMEN
Women’s Rights Advocates and Elected Officials to Call Out Trump, Following Extreme Anti-Choice Remarks
On Thursday, March 31, 2016, New York City Public Advocate Tish James, numerous women’s organizations and elected officials will host an emergency rally and call to action following GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump’s most recent attack on women.
In a CNN televised Town Hall, Republican Presidential front runner Donald Trump declared “there has to be some form of punishment” for women who have abortions. That response got people on boths sides of the debate up were in arms.
Pro-choice advocates, like Public Advocate Letitia James, were livid after learning of Trump’s remarks. “Trump doesn’t just oppose a woman’s right to choose, he wants to go one step further and punish women for their reproductive choices,” wrote James in an email to supporters.
The anti-Trump forces will rally at 4:00pm Thursday afternoon at Columbus Circle (60th Street and Broadway) in Manhattan. Their rallying cry is “We won’t allow Trump to turn back the clock on decades of progress.”
