Ancient Order of Hibernians Golf Outing JUNE 11TH

The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) is an Irish Catholic fraternal organization. Members must be Catholic and either Irish-born or of Irish descent. Its largest membership is now in the United States, where it was founded in New York City in 1836. Its name was adopted by groups of Irish immigrants in the United States. Its purpose was to act as guards to protect Catholic churches from anti-Catholic forces in the mid-19th century, and to assist Irish Catholic immigrants, especially those who faced discrimination or harsh coal mining working conditions.

Every year we have a Golf outing to raise money to donate to local causes.

Today our organization ,AOH Division #3, uses most of the funds raised to give financial  scholarship to children of Irish decent or a deserving student graduating from Catholic grammar schools in the Bronx. Additionally we award  a Barry Medal , named after Commodore  Barry, to students excelling in American History and we also include a small stipend.

This year we added St. Lucy’s School as a recipient.
