Sex Offenders Push Sen. Klein to Call for Pokemon Go-Related Legislation

New York, NY — Senators Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) and Diane Savino (D-SI/Brooklyn) will release an investigative report, “Protecting our Children: How Pokémon GO and Augmented Reality Games Expose Children to Sex Offenders.” Pokémon GO, a popular game, sends players on a scavenger hunt throughout the city to catch different Pokémon, collect needed objects at pokéstops and battle their characters at pokégyms.  Findings to be released on Friday, July 29, at 250 Broadway, 20th Floor, at 1 p.m. reveal a distressing pattern of Pokémon emerging in front of sex offender homes, along with other in-game objectives nearby.

The Senators will propose legislation to protect children from encountering real-life dangers while playing Pokemon GO and other augmented reality games.
