Words vs. Pictures: Free Art Program for 6-14 Year Olds

Words vs. Pictures is a visual and literary arts program. Students learn different writing skills and visual art techniques while participating in workshops where the projects are designed to help them explore who they are and discuss topics that are important to them. At the end of the program year, the students’ work will be showcased in an art exhibit.

Classes are free and all materials are provided. The program meets most Saturdays from 1-3:30pm at Wings Academy in the Bronx.

In order to participate in the program, students must:

– Live in the Bronx
– Be between 6 and 14 years old
– Have parental permission

Words vs. Pictures is offered by Artsmith, a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Artsmith provides interactive projects and activities that will allow participants to grow in ways that we hope will have lasting effects on their lives and communities. Among other learning outcomes, Artsmith’s programs seek to strengthen participants’ self-image, and aid participants in developing life goals and understanding current events on societal and global levels.
