Cancer Awareness – NYPD hosts Paint day

“Fight with a Flare”

On Friday, October 7th the NYPD Community Affairs Bureau hosted a ‘Paint Day’ for seniors and community members at the Mt. Carmel Neighborhood Senior Center where illustrator and educator, Laura Alverez, lead the class with all participants to paint “Fight with a Flare”, a painting given its name by Bharati S. Kemraj, Founder of The Bharati Foundation, and specially dedicated to all cancer survivors and those who spread awareness. “This is definitely community connecting through colors,” said Araminta Rivera, Director of the Mt. Carmel Center. “I am even more delighted that our very own Maryann, who is a breast cancer survivor was able to be a part of the class”.
