The Manhattan College Lady Jaspers (5-9, 1-4 MAAC) took the court on Thursday afternoon, looking to turn their fortunes in the MAAC Conference and win their second game, as they faced off against the Rider Broncos (10-4, 4-1 MAAC) at Draddy Gymnasium, in Riverdale, New York.

Unfortunately, the Lady Jaspers began the game as cold as the temperature outside shooting only 9% from the field (1-11). Manhattan made their only field goal of the quarter, with 1:42 remaining in the period, when Nyasha Irizarry hit a three point shot.

Behind in the score 12-3 at the start of the second period, the Lady Jaspers scored first on a three-point basket by Taylor Williams, cutting the deficit to 12-6. However, the Lady Jaspers would go scoreless over the next three minutes and ten seconds, as the deficit increased to fourteen points, 22-8. Manhattan’s offense could only add two more point to their total as they ended the half behind 29-10.

The second half saw the two teams trading baskets, as the Lady Jaspers could not reduce the deficit to less than fifteen points. The game ended with the Lady Jaspers trailing 53-36 for their fourth MAAC Conference loss.

After going 1-3 during the current four-game home stand, the Lady Jaspers will hit the road over the next four games beginning Sunday in Fairfield Conn., where they will face the Fairfield Lady Stags, in another conference battle.
